James and the Christmas Wagon is the story of James and his wagon. It was Christmas time and James wanted big shiny red wagon, the one that he saw in the window of Mr. Burkhardt's store. He wanted it desperately. However James also knew that his family cannot afford such costly gift. Still he thought only this time , his family will surely gift him the wagon. His father loved James a lot and decide to make a wagon all by himself from wood and left over paint. After the hard day's toil it was really tiring for him to make the wagon , but since he loved James a lot he did not take any rest and wanted to make the present ready before the Christmas night. The wagon was green in color and was smaller than the one James had demanded. Father took great care, cutting, sanding and painting the wagon and finally felt very happy after he finished the wagon. He assumed that though this was not the wagon James had desired, still James would be happy because the present was built out of love.
On the Christmas eve, the father gave away different presents to his children. James was very angry after getting the gift and threw it away. His father was very hurt but didn't say anything. Then during a family gathering James got to meet with Uncle Dud, from whom he learned how to value some one's gift thats given out of love. Later in the night he apologized to his father and was happy to play with his green wagon.
