It was just before the Winter that all the animals of the forest were getting ready for the long and cold time ahead. All except Frisky the bear. Frisky was busy playing all along and even wanted his friends to join him. He was not bothered about the bad time that was waiting for him. He called his friend Mrs. Squirrel who was running like mad and was busy collecting and gathering nuts for her family and herself. She refused his offer and advised him to prepare for the winter, to which Frisky paid no attention. He continued with his constant play. Then he went to Mr. Chipmunk who was also busy gathering food for the cold winter ahead. Frisky urged him to play but invain. Mr Chipmunk told him that there is a possibility that the winter would be very drastic and very cold. As usual, Frisky ignored the warnings. For the rest of the Autumn , he played all through and in the month of December felt the intensity of cold. But alas! He was not prepared. It was the worst winter that he had ever experienced.
Frisky went to Mr. Chipmunk who was fast asleep in his old oak tree. Frisky yelled and cried, but there are no one to come for his help. It was simply useless. Then Frisky slogged through the deep snow and reached for Mrs, Squirrel 's home. He pleaded for help and admitted his foolishness. Mrs. Squirrel understood that Frisky had already realized his fault and then decided to help him. She told him about the food that she along with Mr. Chipmunk had gathered for him , when they realized he wont prepare for the winter. Frisky was apologetic and promised this wont be repeated ever again. She directed him about the place where the food was kept. Frisky thus survived the onslaught of the winter with the help of his friends and learned a great lesson too which he never forgot all his life!
