The Christmas Rose

The old legend The Christmas Rose was penned by William. H. Hooks. In the story the author narrates the scene when the Magi laid their rich offerings of myrrh, frankincense, and gold, by the bed of the sleeping Christ Child at that time a shepherd maiden was quietly weeping out side the door. The maiden was weeping because she also wanted to bring gifts for the Christ child but she had nothing to offer as she was very poor. She even thought to gift the baby with a full bloomed flower but her all efforts were in vain.

The author in the story The Christmas Rose now writes, as the child stood there weeping an angel passing from there saw her misery and stooped to remove the snow at the maiden’s feet. As the angel in the story The Christmas Rose brushed aside the snow there bloomed up on the spot a bunch of beautiful winter white and pink roses. Seeing the overflowing joy of the child the angel whispered softly "Nor myrrh, nor frankincense, nor gold, is offering more meet for the Christ Child than these pure Christmas Roses."
At last in the story The Christmas Rose the poor little maiden hurriedly and with great love gathers all the flowers and gifts all to the Holy child or Christ. The moral of the story is that God only seeks for true love and sacrifice for Him. Partial sacrifice and love brings partial blessings only. God always feels for one who feels for Him truly and with a pious story.
The Christmas Rose is a famous legend and is still red with great fondness by many. The story has also been used in many stage shows and plays.
