Just Detours

Just Detours is an unusual experience of a person who did a mistake, but that mistake got blessed by the God. The story is, in fact, Brian Fielder's own narrative from his life, which became the inspirational Christmas story for all devotees. It was the day of Christmas Eve, he made the virtually holy mistake. The writer wanted to share his story with others. At that period of time, when this incident occurred, he was in a new neighborhood. Since he was staying at a new place, he decided to give Christmas gifts to some of his familiar neighbors. He counted ten people with whom he was well acquainted.
|
One of among those ten people was a lady who lived down the street from Fielder's place. He used to meet her every morning on their way to workplaces. She always managed a contagious smile and a hearty wave. The writer did not even know her name, and surprisingly, did not even intend to know what her name was. Everything, including her address or her identity, was unknown to the writer except her smile.
In his experience with truth, namely Just Detours, the writer wrote that, his gift idea was, to make small fruit baskets and leave them on each of his neighbor's front porches or door steps in the night of Christmas Eve, so that, they could find them either in the night, or in the morning. He even signed the cards saying, "Happy Holidays from 5104 Northumberland Road."
Since the writer of Just Detours, was still not exactly sure where she lived, he finally decided upon a house and was quite sure that it was hers.
Getting the gifts, every neighbor except that particular lady, thanked him. And one day, he understood that he had mistook the residence of an dying person, namely Richard Kelly, with the residence of that lady while getting the thanks card in his address from Kelly's family after Kelly's death. They blessed the writer a lot because they thought the writer was the person who remembered Kelly in Kelly's last days. Then, the writer penned down his deep thoughts: “I feel blessed to have helped Richard Kelly's last days be more cheerful. This just further reinforces my belief that there are never any mistakes in life -- just detours, shortcuts, and small excursions along the way”.
