Christmas plays are an integral part of the Christmas celebrations. Probably one of the reasons is that Christmas plays not only involve the young and the old in a fun activity, but also the essence of Christmas can best be relayed to the audience in a classic style of the theater. Not only do they make a great impact on the minds of the audience, but when a play makes you think, especially after it is over, consider it to be a great success!

Christmas plays have for long been part of the school curriculum. There are many schools all around the world which consciously include an activity related to the festive spirit of the Christmas. Most of the plays written today are the modern versions taken from various aspects of the life of Jesus Christ. These plays while drawing inspiration from the lessons of Christianity and the essence of Christmas, have been adapted to modern-day situations. Thus, the audience can take home the message, which is often subdued by the tone of humor, and also relax over a fun activity, often with the whole family.
Some of the popular plays written by young children include The Shepherds, which takes from Christ's birth, Mr. Wilson Finds Christmas, The Magi A Journey of Faith, Simeon and Anna, The Christmas Competition, a story of two rival families who do not understand the essence of Christmas, the Christmas Seals play, the Dream, A Letter from Santa Claus, Mr. St. Nicholas, Santa Claus, Christmas Stockings and A Game of Letters. Using the tools of skits, dramas and musicals, Christmas plays have become one of the most popular activities in most countries, and especially during the season itself. Moreover, Christmas plays are a good option for most groups, organizations, health associations, to draw funds for respective noble causes. They have become important tools of communication today.
